The UPDATED MLS Transfer Window Rumor Mill

Taylor Twellman: New England turned down a rumored $800K bid from Preston North End for TT's services. Eric Wynalda is happy.

Guillermo Barros Schelotto: There were shenanigans in Guille's contract signing with the Crew, and he isn't too happy about them. Sounds like some misunderstandings, but it also sounds like he wasn't committed to staying in Columbus for that long. Hard to tell, but Goff puts his return at 50/50.

Franco Neill (Argentina, Argentinos Juniors), Matias Cordoba (Argentina, Argentinos Juniors): Neill should be going to DCU officially this week, with Clarin breaking the news that Cordoba is also heading to Real Salt Lake in a similar deal. It's been reported that it's a $60K loan with an option to buy. I talked about El Enano yesterday, but here's a little info on Cordoba. He's a 2-way midfielder who has been recently injured. The other Argentines RSL signed worked out fairly well, hopefully they'll get lucky here as well.

Matt Pickens: He left USMNT camp to go on a trial with (supposedly) Norwich. He's out of contract with Chicago.

Ramiro Corrales (USA, Brann of Norway): He's in camp with the USMNT and is rumored to be coming home to MLS. Houston still holds his rights from the Earthquakes v.2.0 days.

Re: Schelotto stuff
Professional athletes have been signing contracts for decades, I cant believe GBS didnt carefully read a 2 year bindng contract regarding his future. But if he is only going to be around for 1 more year, he probably isnt what the crew need right now. When he leaves he would be impossible to replace with a similar style player. The future lies in the Virtuoso..

From what I read, it had something to do with confusion over when the contract ended. I guess with MLS option years, it could be confusing if you're not familiar with the system. Sounds like he had a crappy adviser/agent...

If they can get him for '08, the Crew should. If he's going to leave midway through the year, then they should let him go now.

I thought they let Virtuoso go...
