Rumor overload

Just go over to MLS Rumors for today's plentiful update. Here's a couple thoughts on my end:
  • Jay Jay Okocha would've been really nice a couple of years ago. Signing a Designated Player from Hull City doesn't really send out the right message though. Especially one who's 34 years old...
  • John Guppy looks pretty dumb right about now. John Spencer must not want to go to Chicago that bad. Dennis Hamlett must have broken his computer screen when he read that he was being passed over again.
  • At least Guppy has supposedly brought Best Buy to the table, he better hope that one's a done deal...
  • Has DC United become the LA Galaxy of this hemisphere? Every player is Europe is linked to the Gals, while every player in Mexico, Central, and South America is linked to DCU.
  • Why is DCU going after a 22 year old GK from Peru? Isn't Wells supposed to be the starter? I'm hoping this one isn't true...
  • Preston North End really wants Taylor Twellman, upping their offer to $2 million. What's the breaking point for the Revs? Does PNE make youth medium jerseys? How will Waldo take Taylor's move? Oh, the questions...
  • Poor Esky...
THIS JUST IN: Joe Cannon to San Jose for a partial allocation. Cronin gets the job full time in LA now. Seems like a good move for both teams here...

Esky goes from the worst team in the league to one that almost won the west, needs offense, and plays against Matt Reis fewer times per season. How is that bad?

Cannon for a partial allocation. GK's are sure going cheap this off season.

Just to things:

- The Twellman joke forced a spit-take of coffee. Congratulations.

- On the Okocha thing, this could be nothing (e.g. me reading language entirely literally), but MLS Rumors referenced Goff, who never said anything about signing Okocha as a DP; they could just be signing him. And if it's not DP money, it could make sense. Another possibility is that MLS Rumors has separate sources and they added the DP talk for a reason. Anyway, I blab about that here.
