The Rochester Democrat & Chronicle is reporting that the Rhinos could be more than $10 million in debt. There's supposed to be a big money investor lined up, but I think all of us who have been around the block in American pro soccer have heard that one before. I really hope the story is true this time.
The USL says that all is good and the Rhinos is "fully committed" to playing in 2008 and should be around for many years to come. Unfortunately, you have to pay the bills to make that happen, and they're not currently getting paid.
From "this close" to MLS to "this close" to being out of business, what a change in fortunes for Rochester...
