Playoff format, what are your thoughts?

I've been having what seems like a never ending debate about the playoff format and how it hurts MLS.

I guess I'm just happy we're not doing shootouts and best 2 out of 3 series anymore. I'm fairly satisfied with where things are currently. I'd prefer to see both the conference semis and conference finals with 2 legs.

What about the final, what would you prefer? I'm fine with the single game, neutral site format. Doing the final at the site of the higher seed could make for some great atmosphere. My only issue with the single game format is the timing. It's hard to get much attention on a Sunday afternoon in the middle of the NFL season. What other time would work better though?

Would American fans and the media be able to handle a 2 legged final? It would be the most fair way to do it, and gives each team a chance to promote a League Final match at their stadium.

I know, I'm rambling, but I'm curious...

Thoughts?

I think six teams should make the playoffs, three from each conference. The top team in each conference gets a bye into the conference finals. The other two teams in each conference play for a chance to go to the conference finals. Simple. Rewards winning the conference in the regular season.

Would you do 2 legs or one in the conference semis and finals?

I like the idea in theory, but I've seen teams come out flat after sitting out a week while the others are sharp. It's kind of tricky...
