I wonder if the Alltel guys conjured this up...

Claudio Lopez has joined the Kansas City Wizards as their designated player. He's 33 years old, and his career highlights include 2 World Cups with Argentina, over 200 games in Europe with Valencia and Lazio, and winning the Mexican Primera and CONCACAF Champions' Cup with Club América. He's been back with Racing Club in Argentina as of late.

It's a free transfer, which is nice, but I'd like to see how much Lopez has left. He says he feels like he can play 8 more years, which sounds kind of crazy. We'll see...
