As we sit in the lobby before heading over for the U23 National Cup final, I wanted to capture the scene a little. The guys are ready, the majority of them were born ready. After hearing their stories and the sacrifices they have made for this game, I want this championship for them. These guys have given so much of their hearts, minds, and lives for this game that we all love.
The team is playing for their families, the ones still with us and the ones who have passed on. They are playing for their friends, both close to them and far away. They are playing to make history. They are playing to make a statement. They are playing for each other.
It sticks out to me more than anything that this team, hailing from twelve different countries and from a huge range of backgrounds, has truly become a family.
