U-20 World Cup - Day 3 - Here Come The Mexicans

Mexico 3-0 Gambia - The highly-anticipated debut of the Mexican team lived up to the hype as the core of the 2005 U-17 World Cup Champions made their debut in Toronto with a 3-0 win over Gambia. After a stale first half which saw the Gambians take the game to the Mexicans, including hitting the post on one occasion, the game changed dramatically in the second half. Goals by Hector Moreno and Javier Hernandez sealed it after a wonder-goal by Barcelona prodigy Giovani Dos Santos opened the scoring. You've got to see this one:

Portugal 2-0 New Zealand - Mexico's biggest competition in Group 3, Portugal, also won, beating Oceania's representative New Zealand 2-0. Bruno Gama scored both for the Portuguese, who will now face Mexico on Thursday.

Congo 1-1 Austria - Over in Group A, Congo and Austria tied 1-1 to put themselves in a good position depending on results to move through. Both teams are still chasing Chile, who's 3-0 victory on Sunday over hosts Canada leaves them top.

Coming up Tuesday:

Montreal - Group D

USA vs. Poland - 5 p.m. EST
Brazil vs. South Korea - 7:45 EST

Ottawa - Group E

"U-20 World Cup - Here come the Americans" with Freddy busting out a little something special. Another performance like that and he might be able to start looking for airline tickets to Europe.
