And we're off...

The SuperLiga got off to a bit of a surprising start Tuesday night. In the early match, Chivas came back from a goal down to draw with FC Dallas 1-1. Only a little over 12K were announced at the Brick Oven, I thought they'd draw better even if it was midweek.

UPDATE #1: Now with highlights from Dallas. Great goal by Alvarez. Great goal by Chivas, except he used his hand to settle the ball. Drew Moor got decked with a very cheap forearm shiver to the jaw, but then was a moron in retaliating. The first foul should've been called and the forearm should've been punished, but the retaliation made the ref's job easy in red carding Moor. I like the the little melee, it makes the tournament seem more meaningful somehow.

The Gals drew better in the nightcap, 19K+ (even though our buddy Luis thought it was closer to 12K), and rewarded their suffering fans with a victory over defending Mexican Clausura, CONCACAF Champions Cup, and Copa Sudamericana champions Pachuca. Alan Gordon scored the first, Pachuca drew level, and Landon Donovan finished off a Cobi Jones chance to win the match. Big win for the Gals, I'm sure Becks was pleased as he watched from his special box.

I'll try to post some highlights as they come available while I get ready for DCU-Monarcas on Wednesday night...

It is fun watching melees when participates speak different languages. Notice how Toja and Ruiz are in the middle of it and the assumed non-Spanish speaking players on FC Dallas are kind of not sure what to do pulling guys out of the scrum.

In other soccer melee news of the night. The Pachuca keeper who is a very large man got shoved into the goal and surprising nothing ensued. Pachuca had to wake up today wondering how they lost that game. In terms George Carlin would use "LA Galaxy you attack like old people f**k, slow and sloppy."

Drew Moor's expression was terrifying when he shoved the Chivas player, I kinda tinkled a bit watching it online.
