Today Ryan announced his 18-player U.S. women's national team squad for its friendly Saturday vs. Mexico.
All the familiar names are there: Lilly, Wambach, Boxx, Mitts, Scurry, etc.
What has drawn the ire of the Cupcakes staff is the exclusion of the Hawaiian sensation Natasha Kai.
Natasha is my kind of girl. While most of the U.S. national team players seem to have a clean-cut, all-american girl image, Kai is exactly the opposite.
Tough, gritty, and with a style all her own.
For those who have never seen her play, 'Tasha is instantly recognizable with her eccentric personality and numerous tattoos and piercings.
Saturday's match is the first of eight exhibition matches for the U.S. leading up to the Women's World Cup in China in September. But with the U.S. already loaded at forward (Lilly, Wambach, Heather O'Reilly, Lindsay Tarpley), it could be tough for Natasha to make an impact sooner than later.
And Shoe can kiss my ass. His girl (Hope Solo) is on the squad.
(No word yet on who is El Guero's favorite girl on the national team. Could he be trying to tell us something we don't know about?)
