For the first time in over 50 years, the senior US national team visits Cuba tonight for a World Cup qualifier. Cuba is not an easy team to play, mainly because no one knows anything about them. Their players don't play outside of the island, they're only from the domestic league. And we all know what is likely to happen when the national team does leave the island...
I wonder how much the political aspect of this match will come into play. Everyone seems to keep downplaying that, but I'll be curious to see the mood of the crowd in the stadium. Another win on the road should set things up very nicely for the US to cruise during the rest of this qualifying round, but there's still work to do.
I'd assume we'll see a similar type of lineup and mentality as we saw in Guatemala. Let's see if the boys can get the job done away from home again.
