Western Conference Playoff Predictions, Matchday 1

Saturday
Dallas-Houston, 8:00 (DK)
Houston has only lost once in their last nine games, while the Hoops have only won two of their last ten. The defending champs will be without Ricardo Clark this postseason, for his attempted beheading by boot of Carlos Ruiz.

The Dynamo dominated Dallas during the regular season, winning three of the four games. The last time they faced, Houston spanked the Hoops 3-0 at Pizza Hut Park. That was also the game with the Clark v. Ruiz madness. They haven't faced each other in the postseason before.

Dallas has so much attacking talent, they have to find a way to use as much of it as possible in the first leg. I wonder if they'll have a little extra motivation after the Clark incident in their last game. This one should be interesting.
Prediction: Dallas 2, Houston 2 (Ruiz, Alvarez; De Rosario, Ching)

Kansas City-Chivas USA, 8:30 (DK)
The Goats are limping into the playoffs with Ante Razov dinged up, while the Wiz got in after their first win in five games. I have to say that I wasn't really expecting KC to win in Dallas to clinch their playoff berth.

The regular season series was dead even between these two, with each team winning their home game. KC won 3-2 on an 89th minute Yuri Movsisyan goal back in July. Chivas clinched their playoff slot with an injury time winner by Ante Razov on September 22nd. This is the first time these teams have met in the playoffs.

Kansas City has never lost to the Goats at Arrowhead, winning all three games they've played there. A key to winning their fourth in a row there will be the health of playmaker Carlos Marinelli, who sprained his ankle in the Dallas game. He's a game time decision for Saturday.
Prediction: 0-0
