The US women have gotten the job done, with a 1-0 lead on Nigeria late. Sweden is up 2-1 on North Korea, which gives the US first place in the group. It also allows them to avoid a match-up with Germany in the quarterfinals.However, it does mean that we get England. The English women's program has come a long way over the years. Kelly Smith is one of the best players in the world, she will give the US backline serious problems. Rachel Yankey is also a handful with her speed. I was impressed with England during the last European Championship, and they've gotten even better since.
The US took the lead early this morning, with Lori Chalupny scoring in the first minute. They haven't been able to put the game away though, which meant Lilly and Wambach had to stay on for nearly the whole match (Lilly just came off in the 85th).
The Cupcake Nation's GK Hope Solo hasn't been too busy today, although she just made a pair of nice saves in the last few minutes. Here's one for the Nation...

I can't take the credit for creating the combination adjective. Here is the story behind the term. It is an advertising creation that has been around for some time. I have used it on many occasions so feel free to "borrow" it if the need arises. It is rather complimentary adjective for the product it was created to explain.
"Northern has spent less on advertising, but they have always made a clear distinction between their product and Charmin's. Northern calls its toilet paper "stroft" -- strong and soft."
